Former Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Noah Salakae, alongside six high-ranking officials and contractors, has been formally charged in connection with irregularities surrounding the P1.5 billion national road modernization portfolio.
The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) stated that the charges follow an exhaustive forensic audit into multi-million pula tender awards across the southern transport corridor.
Salakae maintains that all executive actions during his tenure followed standard ministerial protocol, while public sector watchdogs have termed the trial a watershed moment for procurement transparency in the country.
